From his earliest years Deon has sought to explore the world through the creation of images. With visual art, he learned that he could utilize these skills to communicate introspective ideas to the outside world. This realization naturally led him to illustration. As a professional illustrator and graphic artist, he has worked with a variety of commercial contracts. Some of these include Huntsman Innovations, The Houston Public Library, The Houston Astrodome Memories Project, and The W.C. Handy Foundation. In addition to these experiences, Deon has cultivated a profound love for teaching. Through the years he has had the pleasure of teaching as a faculty member within several institutions. These include, Houston Community College, Lone Star College, Texas Southern University, Savannah College of Art and Design [SCAD], and he currently serves as a faculty member for the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art [PAFA].
